Updated: Apr 24

During my freshman year, I started working as a note-taker at St. Francisc College for the Office of Accessibility and Accommodations, gained an internship through SYEP as a Crowdfunding Manager and made it to the SFC Dean's list on both semesters. Below you can find an overview of my academic achievements and a few samples of my term papers are linked.

Courses taken on Freshmen Year (Fall 2020)

  1. Principles of Sociology: As a psychology student, it is evident to notice that sociology and psychology overlap very often, and although psychology is center on the individual aspects of the human being and sociology on the collective aspect, both areas are significant to gain knowledge from considering that every person lives in a community and it is important to comprehend and work both on each person as well as their development/engagement with their community.

  2. Freshman Seminar: This course was designed to help first-year students understand the functions of the college’s platforms, how and with whom they should talk to get answers to their questions or concerns.

  3. General Psychology: It was my first psychology class. Pretty much it was the basis of my academic and career path. It introduced me to what my professor in this course said, "the world of Psychology."

  4. Basic Problems in Philosophy: The field of psychology has a strong history in Philosophy, and although Philosophy is not an area of my interest, I enjoyed the organization of this course and how the topics were taught by my professor. I also noticed that I put into work my critical thinking and problem-solving skills to dissect and process issues and topics which I applied when writing my response papers. Here is a link to a paper sample.

  5. Honors Freshman Seminar: The only think I did not like about this course was the three hours Zoom meetings due to the pandemic. Despite this, I enjoyed this class for the topics discussed, the opportunities to improve my writing and grammar as well as having a taste of college writing papers.

  6. Orientation in Art: I love art for many reasons, including seeing things from different perspectives, not only in art but also in life. It is always good to learn history and to do it through other approaches like art makes it more fascinating. Here is a link to a paper sample.

Freshmen Spring (2021):

  1. Introduction to Human Biology: Pros of this class is that I learned and refresh my knowledge on biology and human anatomy. The rest, I would have preferred to take a different elective class. However, I consider that the classes one finds uninteresting provide us with the chance to gain knowledge of an area we probably would never be involved with and later on we could have this information to share and talk with someone new who perhaps has an inclination to this particular field.

  2. Intro to Digital Humanities: I was nervous for this class because I thought it was going to be tough on me in terms of technology familiarity. However, it was the total opposite. From this class, I gained and improved skills that I am still utilizing and have assisted me with landing jobs opportunities, like website design and social media management. As a class assignment, I created my first website found here.

  3. Music of the Western World: I enjoy music, so I chose this course happily. It was like a reward for my hard work and effort I invested in 2020. In this course, I dived into the history of music in the Western world.

  4. Honors Freshman Seminar: A continuation from fall semester. See above. My final paper "An apology as form of Justice" is found on my website for Digital Humanities.

  5. Coping with Stress: As the pandemic reigned on, I felt the need to cope with many things like stress. This class was key as it offered me with strategies to cope and information to understand the causes and consequences of stress on health.

  6. Developmental Psychology: Part of my requirements for my degree. It also helped me to discern which field of Psychology I hope to pursue. My most vivid memory of this course is my final paper on the film Lion. On this paper, I discussed two developmental stages across the lifespan of a fictional person.
